Your marriage can change the world. Not because of the wedding photos, the budget, or the date nights. Because God designed your marriage to extend His mission and make Him known.
A Marriage Built for More Than Itself
Most couples are told marriage is about happiness. Compatibility. A good partnership. This message reframes the whole thing. Marriage was never designed to terminate on itself. It was designed to send you out. Valor Church is an expository, Bible-teaching church in northwest Arvada, Colorado, serving Westminster, Broomfield, Five Parks, and Candelas. The biblical anchor is Priscilla and Aquila. They show up six times across five books of the New Testament, and they are never named apart from each other. Acts 18, Romans 16, 1 Corinthians 16, 2 Timothy 4. Tent makers turned missionaries. A couple Paul called co-workers in Christ who risked their own necks for his life.
Three movements shape a missional marriage. One, open your home with grace. Priscilla and Aquila hosted Paul, then hosted whole churches in three different cities. Two, sharpen others for God’s glory. They pulled Apollos aside gently and explained the way of God more accurately. Three, stake your all for the gospel. They moved across the Roman world and put their lives on the line so the message would keep going.
This is not just for the married. It is for the single asking what to pray for in a spouse. It is for the empty-nester wondering what the next twenty years are for. There is no retirement in the kingdom of God. The finish line is heaven. Will your yes be on the table when He asks?

DAY 1
One Mission, Not Two
Acts 18:1-3
When you got married, your stuff became our stuff. Your body became our body. And your mission became our mission. Paul met a couple who shared a trade, a home, and a calling. The question is not what is mine to do. The question is what is ours.

Lord, knit our hearts to one mission and one yes.
DAY 2
Open the Door
Romans 16:5
Priscilla and Aquila hosted churches in their home in three different cities. Hospitality is not entertaining. It is opening your space so someone else feels seen. God gave you a home so you could give it away.

Lord, make our home a place where strangers become family.
DAY 3
Sharpen, Do Not Shame
Acts 18:24-26
When Priscilla and Aquila heard Apollos preach off the mark, they did not crush him in public. They took him aside and explained the way of God more accurately. Knowledge is for building people up, not tearing them down.

Lord, give us discerning ears and gentle words.
DAY 4
Necks on the Line
Romans 16:3-4
Paul says Priscilla and Aquila risked their own necks for his life. They believed the mission was worth more than their safety. What are you holding back from God because the cost feels too high?

Lord, put my yes on the table before You ask.
DAY 5
Rooted to Send
1 Corinthians 16:19
Priscilla and Aquila kept moving cities, but everywhere they landed they rooted in and hosted the church. You do not have to move to be missional. You have to plant deep enough to give shade.

Lord, root us where You have placed us.
DAY 6
No Retirement
2 Timothy 4:19
Twenty years after Paul first met them, Priscilla and Aquila were still on mission. There is no retirement in the kingdom. Pensions and Social Security do not end your calling. Heaven does.

Lord, keep us running until You take us home.
DAY 7
Marriage as Glue
Ephesians 5:31-32
When a husband and wife share a mission, the mission becomes glue. Hard seasons do not split a couple who are looking the same direction. Pick something bigger than yourselves and run at it together.

Lord, make our marriage a force for Your kingdom.
