My husband and I first attended Valor Church years ago based on a friend’s recommendation. We felt instantly welcomed and experienced a genuine focus on Christ. When we moved 45 minutes away in 2023, we transitioned to a church closer to home with Pastor Justin’s blessing.

Two years later, we decided to visit with our newborn son. What surprised us was how much more like home it felt. After the service, Justin’s first instinct upon meeting our son was to pray over him and bless him. Despite our years away, we still felt like his first priority—and our favorite part is knowing everyone at Valor feels the same way.

Driving home that morning, my husband and I both expressed the same feeling: a moment of peace and serenity walking through those doors. We were impressed by how intentional everything was—from the worship team to the prayer prompts to the sermon. In that moment, we knew we were being called back.

Neither of us can imagine a different church home. From the moment you walk through the doors of Valor Church, you can feel not just the love of Christ, but the call to seek Him. As a couple desiring a church that preaches the biblical word of God while making community outreach and the advancement of the Kingdom a priority, we truly could not see ourselves anywhere else.

At a critical moment in our 10+ year marriage, we stood at a crossroads: leave, or stay and continue the fight. Left to our own devices, we might have chosen what seemed like the easier path and walked away. But it became abundantly clear that the Lord had other plans for us.

Within a three-week span, Marissa experienced her personal moment of salvation while walking in the Rocky Flats open space behind our home in northwest Arvada. Soon after, guided by what we now recognize as the Holy Spirit, she led Zach to his own transformative moment. Feeling called to a complete overhaul of our lives—and unsure where to begin—we decided that going to church was the right first step.

One week later, we stepped into the Local Church for the first time. Although we had attended church together in the past, it had been more out of ritual and obligation than a shared pursuit of faith.

That first Sunday proved pivotal. It was the day Pastor Justin announced that the Local Church would become Valor Church and would be moving to Northwest Arvada, where we now live. In that moment, we knew that choosing to attend church together and committing to stay in the fight would require what we now understand as true valor.

At Valor Church, under the compassionate and grace-filled leadership of Pastor Justin, we have found our community and the place that most inspires us to live with courage and faith. Our hearts and spirits are firmly rooted in Valor Church, and we are overwhelmed with gratitude that the Lord led us here.

The last place you think you will find your new church home is at a community festival, but that’s exactly what happened to us. We were enjoying the Taste of Arvada when we happened by a booth where Justin was serving. I can’t even recall all of the conversation, but Justin’s passion for the Lord and for Arvada stuck with me.

We had become very sporadic church attenders at our pre-COVID church home, just never truly feeling connected. Justin stayed in touch with me periodically, and it seemed clear to us, finally, that we should check out the church. This was probably a year after first meeting Justin at that booth.

From the moment we walked into the service, it was obvious that the Valor Church family was just that—a welcoming, Jesus-loving, grace-filled family. We knew from that first visit that this was where the Lord had been preparing our hearts to be. We are blessed to be members of a church with transparent, welcoming, and non-pretentious folks who strive to know and serve the Lord!
